Initial Thoughts

Boys, I created this as a space as a place for us to interact on our spiritual journey as well as throw up cool quotes, links, thoughts, etc.

Hope you enjoy it . . .

Was thinking about the last three days in Romans. Today is a rest day but even the thoughts in there today about making sure that you are prepared in your mind and heart for war is provoking. There is many great passages in scripture that make the connection between our spiritual lives and warfare. I recently watche Band of Brothers and so this is especially vivid.

I have really been walking around a battle field - with guns blazing, mortars blowing up all around me, and friends getting wounded - with the mentality of someone who is at home watching television. Every time I get hit by a piece of shrapnel I wonder why. An example of that was my drive home yesterday from church. I met a buddy of mine from my freshmen year of college who is finishing up his MBA at Columbia. He told me all about his experiences and how he hoped to get out and work for some high end consulting group. The drive home sucked. All I thought about was how I could get out of ministry and find a way to build a career in business for myself. It consumed me. . . Then I read Romans 4-5 and was crushed by my self-centered mentality. I had forgotten that I was in the middle of a battlefield. The enemy had thrown a live grenade in my fox hole and I was holding on to it too long.

Here is Paul's stream of thought in Romans 5:3-5: Trials develop Endurance that develops Character that develops our Confidence in God.

I had forgotten that God is most glorified in me when I am most satisified in Him.
